Help & FAQ

How Lucien works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.

Getting started

What is Lucien?

Lucien calls people, businesses and organizations for you in 82 languages. Get written answers, transcripts and translated results.

Can Lucien call a family member or friend, or only businesses?

Yes. Lucien can call private individuals, including family and friends, as well as businesses and organizations. You can ask it to relay a simple one-to-one message, ask a question or confirm an arrangement. Provide the person’s number and clear instructions; the number and destination must be supported. Call my friend Alex, tell them I will arrive at 7 pm, and ask whether that still works for them.

How does it work?

Three steps. Describe what you need, approve the call details, then let Lucien make the call. Afterwards, review the written result, summary, transcript and translation.

What kinds of things can I ask it to do?

Anything that's normally a quick phone call: booking a restaurant, salon, or doctor's appointment; asking a shop what's in stock or what something costs; getting a quote from a plumber or garage; confirming a reservation; or ringing several places at once to compare. If it can be settled in a short call, Lucien can usually handle it.

Which countries can it call?

Lucien can call landlines and mobiles in more than 200 countries and territories, across Europe, North and Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Emergency, premium-rate and satellite numbers cannot be called, and the app checks each number before dialing.

Which languages does it speak?

Lucien supports 82 call languages, including French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Hindi, Russian, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Hebrew, Persian and Swahili. Confirm the language in your call plan.

Do I need to speak the local language?

No — that's the whole point. Lucien handles the call in the local language, then gives you the transcript and summary translated into your language, so you understand every word without speaking any of it.

During & after a call

Can I review the call afterwards?

Yes. You can review the written result, summary and transcript in your history, with translations in your language.

Do I get a transcript in my language?

Yes. You can review the written result, summary and transcript in your history, with translations in your language.

What if nobody picks up?

If the person you call does not answer, review the attempt before deciding whether to try again. The credits used appear in your billing history.

Can it make several calls for one request?

Yes. For something like “find who has peonies and who's cheapest,” Lucien can ring several businesses — sometimes at the same time — and bring back a ranked comparison of what each one said.

Is there a wait at busy times?

Occasionally. Calls go out in the order they're requested, so at peak times a call may wait briefly in a queue before it starts. When that happens you'll see it marked as queued, with an estimate of when it'll begin.

Can Lucien receive calls or texts?

No — Lucien only makes outbound calls on your behalf. It doesn't take incoming calls, send or receive text messages, or give out a number people can reach you on.

Will the person I call know it’s an AI?

Lucien identifies itself as an AI assistant and makes the call you requested. It does not impersonate someone else.

How accurate is it?

Lucien is very capable, but it's automated and can occasionally mishear or misunderstand. Always double-check anything important — a reservation, a price, an opening time — against the transcript and summary before relying on it.

Pricing & credit

How much does a call cost?

Calls use the same number of credits on every plan.

Is there a subscription?

Monthly credit subscriptions: Essential, Plus, Pro, Premier, Ultra. Unused subscription credits accumulate while your subscription continues. If you cancel, they expire at the end of your final paid period. If renewal fails, credits remain available during any provider grace period, then freeze during payment recovery. Successful recovery restores them; they expire if recovery ends without payment. Credits expiring first are used first.

What's the minimum top-up, and is there free credit to try?

600 welcome credits when you save a card, valid for one calendar month. Each card and account receives them once. One-time PAYG packs. Packs are valid for 1 to 12 months from successful payment: the bigger the pack, the longer it lasts. Buying a pack does not change your subscription renewal date. These validity periods apply to packs purchased on the website.

Do my credits expire?

Buying more credits never extends an older lot.

How do I pay, and can I get an invoice?

Payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Each top-up comes with an invoice — including VAT where it applies — that you can download from your account.

Can I get a refund?

Your statutory withdrawal and refund rights remain unchanged. Call billing corrections return credits to their original lots and expiry dates. Payment refunds and disputes reverse the associated purchased credits.

Account, data & privacy

How do I sign up?

You can sign up in seconds with your Google account, or with an email address and password. To start placing calls you just add a card for pay-as-you-go credit.

Who can access my results, and is my data private?

Your requests, and transcripts are private to your account — and, if you're on a team, to that team's admins. We share only what's necessary with the providers that place the calls and power the voice. Read our Privacy Policy.

How long do you keep results and transcripts?

We keep your calls and their transcripts for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete individual requests yourself at any time.

Can I delete my data or account?

Yes. You can delete individual requests from your history, and you can ask us to delete your whole account — after which we remove or anonymize your data except anything we're legally required to keep.

Limits & responsible use

What can't Lucien do?

Lucien is for everyday, one-to-one phone tasks. It can't make emergency calls, dial premium-rate numbers, take incoming calls, or run bulk, automated, or marketing campaigns — and it won't impersonate anyone or make calls that aren't lawful.

Is it legal — am I responsible for the calls I request?

Yes. You are responsible for ensuring the calls you request are lawful and comply with the calling rules in the relevant countries. Read our Terms of Service.
